Scoliosis-informed Pilates, Taught with Clinical Insight.

Specialist Pilates support for teens and adults with scoliosis, grounded in assessment, safety, and appropriate progression.

Scoliosis is complex.
Not all exercise is appropriate, and not all Pilates is the same.

How We Work with Scoliosis

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our approach to scoliosis is informed primarily by Scolio-Pilates®, a scoliosis-specific method developed for use within the Pilates studio.

Through assessment-led Pilates, we guide clients to:

Elongate without forcing

Breathe more effectively within an asymmetrical structure

Derotate through controlled, guided movement

Strengthen in ways to support function rather than symmetry

Rather than attempting to correct a spine, we aim to improve organisation, awareness, and strength.

Over time, this may support spinal health and, where appropriate, help slow progression. Progression is individual and guided by observation, tolerance, and response rather than fixed protocols or promises.

This work is exercise-based and supportive in nature. It does not replace medical treatment or physiotherapy.

Our Approach

Our scoliosis work sits within a rehabilitation-informed Pilates framework.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
  • Before recommending any pathway, we take time to understand your scoliosis history, current symptoms, and how your body moves.

This allows us to identify what is appropriate, what requires caution, and whether a structured programme or private support is the safest option for you.

  • Two people with the same diagnosis can move very differently. We consider factors such as curve pattern, age, pain history, breathing, and movement habits when selecting exercises, rather than relying on generic scoliosis templates.

  • Progress is guided by how your body responds over time, not by fixed timelines. Exercises are adjusted as strength, awareness, and capacity develop, with changes made conservatively to support consistency and long-term confidence in movement.

Many of our clients are also under the care of orthopaedic specialists, physiotherapists, or other healthcare providers. Our work complements medical care and does not replace it.

This approach is suitable for teens and adults seeking non-surgical scoliosis support through exercise.

Our Scoliosis-Specialised Teachers.

Scoliosis-informed Pilates requires specific training and careful judgement.
